Hello Everyone! I'm so sorry for my absence the last week, I have been busy celebrating my birthday along with my boyfriends. As my birthday has rolled around I have been able to pick up quite a few new makeup bits that I can't wait to share with you! Today I want to talk about my latest foundation pick, Maybelline’s Dream Velvet Foundation. Maybelline describes this product as being a hydrating, whipped-gel matte foundation with a velvety finish. They also claim that the product is long lasting for up to 12 hours of wear and they say it is ideal for normal to combination skin.
So let’s start with the packaging! Overall I like the little tube a lot. With it’s ‘dreamy’ design and rose gold accents it’s very appealing to the eye and also great for throwing in your purse or makeup bag due to it’s compact package. I find that the inside of the lid does get a little messy with excess foundation, but that’s nothing I can’t deal with.
Onto the color range and the formula. This foundation comes in 12 different shades ranging from their lightest option, Porcelain Ivory to their darkest, Coconut. From my perspective the range is good. It definitely appeals well to the very pale end of the market (myself included), but I feel like they could amp up their game a little for the darker ladies out there. I have the shade Warm Porcelain and it matches my skin perfectly. The formula does have a bit of a yellow undertone to it, but it suits my skin well. Other than the color I have been pretty impressed with the formula. It has a creamy consistency, I don’t know if I would call it whipped, but it feels very moisturizing on the skin. It’s easily blended with my beauty blender and works very well for my ever changing skin!
It wears for the entire day very well, although not quite as well as my Revlon Colorstay Whipped foundation. I would call this formula medium coverage, as I do need to apply several coats to get a fuller covered effect. The only downside to this is when I apply a few layers I do sometimes notice a bit of caking in the crease of my chin. But despite that little flaw I still really love it! It’s great for quick application and everyday wear as it looks and feels very natural on the skin. Thumbs up to Maybelline on this one!
