Happy Sunday my friends! Jesus loves you, just a reminder.
How are we all doing on this beautiful, snowy day? Well, it’s snowy here at least. If you’re one of my readers in Flordia, or California, or somewhere else beautiful and warm and not at all like Illinois in mid-February, well, good for you. I’m not jealous at all….
I have a question, do any of you guys ever feel like you live in your car? Like you look in the back seat and there’s multiple pairs of shoes on the floor, a few sweatshirts, and far too many to-go coffee mugs (that probably need a good wash)? This is me in a nutshell. I’m always on the go, always running somewhere, always eating meals in the driver’s seat, touching up my makeup in between classes, even packing extra outfits for events later in the day. So if you’re at all like me, today’s post is for you!
I’m so excited to finally be sharing this adorable outfit (I’m OBSESSED with these jeans), and also to give you guys a few of my top fashion tips for the girl-on-the-go!
Tip #1: Simplify Your Hair Styles
I don’t do a whole lot with my hair, mostly because I can’t (can somebody please teach me to french braid???), but also because it saves a heck of a lot of time. I wash and curl my hair about 2-3 times a week and don’t do too much else to it. But simple doesn’t necessarily mean boring. One of my favorite ways to pull an outfit together is by wearing scarves/bandanas in my hair. You can also throw on cute baseball caps for more casual looks, or change up your style by throwing your hair in a high pony or bun! Classic, chic, and time-saving!
Tip #2: Keep your Closet Cohesive
Do me a favor and look at your closet, is it cohesive? Do you have a lot of neutrals? Is there a color scheme going on? In all honesty, picking out an outfit will always and forever be one of the most difficult decisions I have to make. (Dramatic much?) And I’m not good at picking out my outfits ahead of time either. I have friends who will plan a whole week’s worth every Sunday night, I am just not that girl. I change my mind! What if I’m feeling a sweatshirt and leggings instead of the cute dress I had picked out for Friday?
So I’ve found another system that works for me. I mostly stick to a pretty cohesive color palette. Keeping my closet cohesive saves me time and money. Now, don’t get me wrong, I have a few of fun statement pieces. But most of my wardrobe is neutral, and versatile, meaning almost everything goes together. And I don’t have to spend a half-hour debating what to wear every morning (most of the time).
Tip #3: Layers Layers Layers
2010 Cosmo taught me quite a few things about life, but something I’ll never ever forget is this tip. Layers are the *key* to a well put together outfit. There is a big difference between a tee and jeans, and a tee, jeans, and a chunky-knit cardigan. Trust me.
So wear layers, and wear them to your advantage! Throw on that cozy cardigan for work, but throw a suede-moto-jacket in the back seat for your dinner date that evening. The way you layer an outfit can completely transform your look.
Alrighty, now can we talk about these jeans? I’ve never felt more me in a pair of jeans in my life. These a-mah-zing bell bottoms are Free People. A little crazy, I know, I never shop there. But I’m so glad I took the plunge and snagged these under $80 jeans. They fit SO well. And my ladies under 5’4, you’re going to love this: they come in SHORT sizes. Can I get a Hallelujah? I can’t say enough good things about these jeans, they’re super comfortable, come in a huge variety of washes and look incredible on. I went with my normal size 25 short! I seriously cannot wait to order another pair. Everything I’m wearing is linked below!
I hope you all are having a wonderful end to your weekend!
