Happy happy Wednesday my friends!
This last week has been longgg. We’ve been moving my grandparents, so I’ve been running around like crazy, carrying boxes, doing all the things over the last few days and I am EXHAUSTED. There’s just been a lot going on. But I’m so grateful for the bright and shining light at the end of the tunnel after this difficult season. God is good friends, and He has a beautiful plan for us all.
Anyway, today I’m so excited to be sharing my go-to makeup picks! This post has been highly requested, I hope you guys love it!
Alright, so first let me give you a little background on my skin type. I have combination skin, but in the winter especially, it’s SUPER dry. So for my primer I always go for the most moisturizing option. My go-to is the Glossier Priming Moisturizer! I’ve gone through tubes upon tubes of this stuff, it’s so good and perfect for my combo/dry skin! When it comes to foundation I go back and forth between two options, both the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Stick and liquid. I love the stick for day to day, it’s super quick to apply with a brush (I love this budget friend Elf Foundation Brush), and is super buildable! If I’m wanting lighter coverage, I just swipe a little on my cheeks and forehead. I typically go for the liquid version when I’m wanting a more flawless finish, usually for events or date nights. I find that the stick does emphasize texture a litttttle more than the liquid, but the convenience and finish make up for this! For both concealer and powder I’m a big fan of great budget friendly options. My favorite concealer of all time is the Maybelline Fit Me. I typically enjoy lighter coverage concealers, and this one is perfect. It covers my redness or dark circles, but doesn’t cake up and crease under my eyes. It honestly just feels light on my skin! And for powder, I also love the Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless powder. It sets my makeup perfectly and keeps the oils on my forehead under control!
My favorite bronzer of all time is the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer, I’ve tried so many high end options but this drug store find is always and forever my favorite. It smells like a tropical vacation, feels buttery soft on the skin, and blends like a dream! It used to only come in one shade, but recently they added more options to their range! When it comes to blush, I’m also a sucker for drug-store options. Essence carries some of the best blushes on a budget at under $3 a piece! My favorite shade is Satin Love, it gives the perfect flush to my cheeks. This girl loves a little glow, I’m seriously such a highlight hoarder. I have SO many. But my favorite of all time, and my typical everyday pick is the Mac Mineralized Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle. This classic shade is the most gorgeous champagne, and adds the perfect highlighted effect to the cheek bones.
I’ve tried a lot of eye shadow palette, both high end and drug store, but the palette I ALWAYS come back to is without fail the Tartelette in Bloom. This perfect cool-toned palette has everything you need and more to create so many looks, anything from a simply one shade in the crease to a gorgeous smokey eye. These shadows blend like a dream. My only teeny tiny complaint is that there isn’t a highlight shade to pop in the inner corner, but it’s easy to dip into another palette or use a highlighter to get this effect! But before I begin my shadow I ALWAYS always always use eyeshadow primer. If you aren’t doing this, girl, you need to. My favorite shadow primer is the Urban Decay Primer potion in the shade Eden. I always use this shadow primer for a couple reasons,
1.) It covers up any discoloration or veins on your eyelids.
2.) It makes your eyeshadow look last SO much longer on the lids.
I don’t EVER apply eyeshadow without my trust UD primer!
When it comes to mascara I’ll be honest, I’m pretty picky. I hate curling my lashes so I need a mascara that provides both volume and curl. The Benefit Roller Lash Mascara does just that. This stuff is a gold mine. I’ve been using it religiously on my top lashes for years! On my bottom lashes I go for a waterproof and cheaper option, because let's be real high end mascara ain’t cheap. I don’t need to be wasting it on those straight little baby bottom lashes. I’ve consistently been using the Maybelline Colossal Big Shot for as long as I can remember. It lasts on my bottom lashes for hours and hours without smudging, and doesn’t break the bank!
A Few More Things
Okay I want to share just a few more products that I use every single day. First things first is the best foundation brush for just a few bucks! This Elf foundation brush is amazing for the price, it’s super soft and blends my foundation so flawlessly! ALSO, who uses a beauty blender? I used to and I’ll be honest, they’re great. But they’re also exxxxxpensive. With such a wide array of beauty sponges on the market I decided to ditch the blender and try some more affordable options, and I found the best beauty sponge ever: this beautiful pink baby right here. This L’Oreal Sponge truly takes the cake for the best sponge I’ve tried, dare I say it, I think it’s BETTER than the Beauty Blender for a fraction of the price. Last but very not least, I just have to give a quick shout-out to my everyday lip salve. The Glossier Balm Dotcoms are totally the bomb. They are the most moisturizing option I’ve ever tried and I cannot recommend them enough for all your dry lip needs!
So that’s what’s in my makeup bag right now! These products are all my tried and true! Would you like to see more beauty posts in the future?
