Happy Hump Day! When did that become a thing? And honestly, why…? I hope your week is going great so far! Last week I went on a mini shopping spree at my local mall for some school events I have coming up. And I got some amazing deals. A friend of mine requested that I write some business casual/professional outfit posts here on the blog, so I did a poll on stories last week asking if that’s something anyone else wanted to see and you guys overwhelmingly said Y E S. So here we are!
I love professional wear, but it can get very expensive. So, today I’m sharing this gorgeous under $40 dress along with a few of my top tips and tricks to getting high-end brands for less! Let’s jump into it!
#1.) Shop at Outlets
Okay okay, so I totally get the debate over outlet malls. Some people don’t believe they are really any cheaper than the regular stores, and I agree that there are a lot of “outlet” stores that don’t really lower their prices. But some of them do and they do A LOT. My favorite places to snag business casual/professional pieces are J. Crew Factory, Banana Republic Factory and Loft Outlet. More times than not, I find awesome deals. Especially when I utilize my next tip...
#2.) Shop Sale Section ONLY
I mean it. When you walk into the store walk straight to the back. Don’t even let those eyes wander to the full price racks right at the front. Ignore them completely, pretend they aren’t there! Save yourself time and money. And still shop at the outlet/factory stores! Last week I snagged an originally priced $86 J. Crew skirt for $6.99 in the clearance section. CHA-CHING!
#3.) Shop Resale
Don’t knock it til’ you try it friends. I once found a Calvin Klein dress at Goodwill for $16 in perfect condition. I’ve found pants with the tags still on for a quarter of their selling price. Thrift shops have treasure, you just have to search for it, especially in higher end areas of town…
#4.) Take Your Time
The truth is if you want to get higher end brands for less you have to take the time to search for it. So don’t wait until the week before your interview to find the perfect outfit! Start your search early, check all the sources I’ve listed above, and you will find amazing deals! But you will have to take the time to dig through the sale racks, but it will be so worth it!
As for this outfit, all of the details are linked below! I felt like an absolute queen in this super affordable and high quality dress! I simply paired it with a some white heels for a classic look, a nude blazer (if it got chilly), and my go-to Kate Spade tote (you can fit everythinnnggg in this purse). Oh, and the sassiest white sunnies, they really complete the look.
Alright, so what do you think!? Was this helpful? I sure hope it was! Let me know if you’d like to see more work wear/business professional fashion posts in the future!
