Hey hey hey! Happy Fridayyyyy! I’m so excited to be jumping back into blogging today with a super fun collaboration! This whole week I’ve partnered with a few of the LOVELIEST of ladies to share a date night look (or two or three) per day. And today, Friday fun day, is MY day! Be sure to read to the very end of this post and give them each a follow on IG and subscribe to their blogs! They have all posted videos on IG tv featuring the cutest of looks. And overall, they’re just super inspiring to follow, so you probably should. :)
First things first, can we talk about my outfit!? I have had my eye on dresses like this all summer long and I don’t know why in the heck it took me SO long to finally snag one. This sorta sexy, sorta sweet, super stylish piece is the perfect date night look.
For today’s look I simply paired the dress on it’s own (it’s a statement in itself!) with a pair of my all time fav (under $30) strappy black heels. Besides that all you need is some big gold hoops and a simple cross-body bag! Perfect date night look!!! RIGHT? I’m obsessed. Alright, now should we talk about what REALLY matters??? FOOD.
So over the last three years I have been spending a lot more time in the city since Mark (my bf) moved here for school. We’re both major foodies so having the entire city to explore via our tastebuds is basically a dream come true. Today I’m so excited to share a few of my top favorite date night spots (mostly near South loop) for a fun date night out on the town.
Let me be real with you guys….this place’s menu is the way to my heart.
JALEPENO corn bread.
All served with potatoes and corn on the cob, shaken up in your choice of sauce. This place is truly what classic cajun dreams are made of. The amazing menu comes with an atmosphere to match, sitting in the middle of the busy city, I felt as if I was at a quiet Louisiana bayou. LowCountry serves up a good time at two locations, I’ll list them both! Be sure to be prepared to wait or go early, this place is always packed!
Location: 3343 N. Clark St. Chicago, IL & 1132 S. Wabash Ave. Chicago, IL
2.) Kai Sushi
I’m a sushi fanatic, and so is Mark. Whenever we can’t decided what to eat (which is OFTEN) we always pick sushi. It truly deserves it’s own part of the food pyramid (at least in my diet). This little hole-in-the-wall spot has the most delicious and affordable sushi I have yet to find in the city. It has a quiet atmosphere (+outdoor seating) and is tucked in a little strip in the South loop. Again, it’s nothing glamorous, but they do sushi right! We have continued to frequent Kai sushi for three years now and look forward to many more meals there in the future!
Location: 1255 S. State St. Chicago, IL
Cucumber Salad: soy vinegar and sesame topped (I’d recommend sharing, it’s HUGE)
Lobster Mania: Lobster meat, avocado, red tobiko and spicy mayo
3.) Tapas Valencia
TAPAS TAPAS TAPAS. Have you ever had tapas?! If you haven’t had tapas I’ve got the tapas place for you, my friend! (Or if you have had tapas and just love tapas as much as I love tapas!!!) Okay, so a little back story, mine and Mark’s favorite date night spot back home is Meson Sabika located in Naperville, IL. If you ever find yourself in or near Naperville and are looking for an amazing meal, I HIGHLY recommend checking it out. It’s one of the most beautiful restaurants I’ve ever been to (it’s also a wedding venue) and has phenomenal food and service.
Now, let me introduce you to Tapas Valencia. Meson Sabika’s little sister, they almost the exact same menu but in the city! Tapas Valencia has sports a romantic atmosphere perfect for a night out (+ outdoor seating) and also rocks the entire city in terms of cuisine. I guess I should mention, if you don’t know what tapas is at this point, it’s a series of small plates you share with the rest of the table. Both restaurants have a huge menu with dozens of hot and cold plates to choose from. They also have a large variety of drinks and the popular spanish dish paella.
Location: 1530 S. State St. Chicago, IL
TRY the Sangria (both alcoholic and non)
Queso De Cabra: Oven-baked goat cheese in tomato basil sauce, served with garlic bread
Pipirrana de Buey: Skirt steak, sauteed onions and potatoes with Cabrales blue cheese sauce
Alrighty, that’s all I’ve got for now! Give my girlies a follow and check out their date night looks! Shop similar items from my look down below!
