So as promised today I will be sharing my recent drug store haul with you guys! I picked all these products up from my local drugstore/grocery store over the last few weeks. I haven't gotten a ton of use out of all the products so far so this post will be my first impressions on all the products! I have a lot to share so I will try to keep this as short and to the point as possible! Let's get into it...
Alright so first things first, foundations! I picked up two new foundations recently and I have been dying to try them both for a long time. I personally love drug store foundations so I'm super excited to be adding a couple more to my collection!
The first foundation is the Loreal Infallible True matte. Truth be told I actually already have the Infallible Pro Matte in my collection, but absolutely HATED it. The first tube I bought smelled so awful (like something dead) I couldn't even apply it to my face. So I figured I would give this product another shot since it's so hyped up. Unfortunately the first thing I noticed was that it still does smell, why!? However, I have found that the smell is not nearly as strong as the other one and fades away when applied to my face. But otherwise so far I'm definitely liking it! It really has great coverage, I'm still trying to find a way to apply it that I like. Only time will tell!
As for the Lumi Cushion, I am already OBSESSED. My first impression of this was seriously that it may become my favorite foundation of all time! It applies with such a beautiful, dewy, medium-full coverage finish . I also think the packaging is really pretty, the little mirror inside was a nice touch. I found that applying this with a beauty blender is so far my favorite application method. My only complaint is that this product is expensive for a drug store foundation ($13-16!!!) and has only 0.51 oz inside. Most foundations have around one fluid ounce so in reality this is pretty pricey. But I'm willing to pay for quality!
Next I picked up a new concealer and pressed setting powder! I have been looking for something new in these categories for a while now. I've been using tons of loose powders lately and I just hate the mess they make! Also my It Cosmetic's Bye Bye Undereye just hasn't been working with my skin lately.
I've had my eye on the Maybelline Master Conceal Concealer for quite a while now, but have rarely heard anyone talk about it! I don't understand why!? Because so far it's really impressed me. I actually did a little test! I applied my It Cosmetics one to one eye and this to the other and then asked my mom which looked better. We both agreed that the under eye with this drugstore concealer looked much brighter and had less creasing! I think this may be because it has a much thinner consistency than the Bye Bye Undereye. So far it's a A+ in my book!
Everything I try from Rimmel always impresses! I've heard good things about this Stay Matte powder (and the bronzers from the line) for a long time and I'm glad I decided to try it out. I do notice than unlike many powders it doesn't have a scent, which I like! I feel like it gives a nice finish to the oily parts of my face (especially paired with the Lumi Coushion). I'm excited to keep trying this out!
I'm seriously always on the hunt for a good drugstore highlighter! I'm thinking about doing an affordable highlights post soon. Thoughts?? Anyway I have been grabbing every highlight in sight lately and these ones really stood out!
I decided to pick up the Maybelilline Strobing Stick in Light Iridescent because I've been on the hunt for a stick highlighter that applies easily without a streak! I tried on from Milk makeup and unfortunately was not impressed. So I kind of decided to try this on a whim, thinking it probably wouldn't work out. But so far it's surprised me! The color is gorgeous and it applies super evenly to the skin without streakiness. I like to apply another highlight on top for extra glow.
The second cream highlight I picked up is the Essence soo glow! in bright side. This is the first product I have tried from Essence and I'm definitely interested in trying more! The pigmentation of this highlight is very nice, also the texture applies evenly to the skin. Unfortunately, like many drug store highlights, it has pretty large flecks of glitter in it. Which I'm not about. But paired with a powder highlight it looks great!
Finally we have the Wet n Wild MegaGlo Illuminating Palette. If you have tried their contur palettes this packaging is the exact same size! So far I am kind of in the middle about this highlight. I really love the two pink tones to the right but the gold/white tones have more glitter than I like. Although the lighter gold is wearable! I really like pairing the lighter pink shade with the essence cream highlight!
Lips!! You guys know me, I'm a total lip product junkie! I have so many of every type of lip product in my collection. But of course, I'm always willing to try more!
The first products I picked up were the Miliani Amore Matte Lip Creams. I have been hearing so much hype about these liquid lipsticks, and dang, they live up to it! I'm super impressed with these liquid lipsticks so far and may even go as far as to say I love them as much as my Revlon ones (which are my favorite)! I love that they have a creamy/mousey texture instead of a watery one. They last on my lips for hours and the shade range is gorgeous!
I also picked up one of Provocalips! Now I expected a lot from these because so many people have raved them up to be one of the best liquid lips on the market right now. But honestly my first impression did not leave me impressed. I still have yet to actually wear it, so I can't say too much. But when I swatched the shade it came out super blotchy and had little coverage compared to most liquid lipsticks. I don't know if I got a bad batch or if it's just this color? I will definitely update!
Finally, being the die hard Blake Lively fan I am (I was and still a DIE HARD Gossip Girl Fan, plus if you haven't seen Age of Adeline go pick it up!!) I had to pick up her shade from Loreal's new range. It is named, ever so classically, Blake. I gotta be honest that this product also hasn't wowed me yet. It's a pretty color but I can't see myself wearing it 'til summer/spring! Also it wore off my lips super fast and was also a little patchy on my lips. Gorgeous color, name and packaging though!
So that's a wrap! Let me know if there are any products you would like to see me review in-depth from this haul! Or if there's anything else you would like to see soon on Something Shannon!
