It has been the craziest week in the absolute best way. You know, the kind of week where you don’t have time to wash your hair when you probably should, you wake up with a sore throat you’re so low on sleep, and as hectic as it is, you love every single moment of it. I’m just so darn blessed. But I am kind of excited to get back on schedule, back into the swing of things because I have gotten SO off track. I’ve got a long list of things to check off my list! And I’ve got a bunch of fun things I’ve been loving to share with you today including the softest pajamas I have EVER put on my body!Read More
Happy Friday!! This is going up prettty late tonight because I ended up unexpectedly getting dinner with my grandparents tonight! It was wonderful. But I still wanted to be sure to get my favorites of the week up because there’s been some great things I’m loving this week!
1.) The Journeywomen Podcast
You guys know how much I have been loving podcasts lately. I’ve been planning a round up of all of my favorites, but this week I discovered a new one that I just had to share right away! The Journeywomen Podcast is a Christian women’s podcast by Hunter Beless. Each episode Hunter chats with Christian leaders about various topics and “gracefully navigating the seasons and challenges we face on our journeys to glorify God.” The other day I listened to episode 75 with Lauren Weir on Intentional Questions, and wow, it was GOOD! I highly recommend checking this podcast out if you are looking for some uplifting content that will keep you entertained, and also aid in your journey with Christ!
I actually JUST got this cardigan in the mail yesterday and wore it out last night for the first time! I’ve already gotten so many questions about it, so I wanted to get a link here on the blog ASAP! This gorgeous cardi is under $30, super on trend for this season, and on Amazon Prime! FREE TWO DAY SHIPPING BABYYY! I’m so glad I took the chance and ordered this, because it is gorgeous! My only tiny issue is that it is pretty oversized and a little longer than I would like, but also, keep in mind, I am severely vertically challenged at just 5’2….so that may be why! I went with a size Small, if you are able to, I would recommend sizing down one size!
3.) La Croix
This week has been busy busy busy and honestly, I’ve been ALL about those simple, everyday items that just make my day a little better. And it’s time to profess my love…to La Croix. I know, I know, this stuff has some serious debate! It seems like everyone either LOVES it, or HATES it. Well, I love it. I cut soda out of my diet several years ago now, but I will admit sometimes water and coffee gets boring (I’m sorry, coffee. I still love you deeply). So I’ve really been loving La Croix! My favorite flavor is definitely Apricot, it’s the sweetest of the ones I’ve tried so far and tastes the least like plain carobonated water. But I’ve also really loved the Kiwi-Watermelon, Grapefruit, and Peach-Pear!
4.) I Got a Pop-Socket
What did I tell you guys? I’m all about the simple things this week! I just got a pop-socket on my phone! I put off getting one for SO long because I didn’t think I’d like it. But I LOVE it. I’m an incredibly anxious person and especially in class, I get very fidgety. And I know this may sound silly to some, but I feel like a pop-socket is like an adult fidget spinner! Over the last few days fidgeting with my phone has kept me from picking my cuticles (my horrible, nasty, anxiety resulted habit)! Also, it’s easier to take selfies. I’m not saying to get one, because they’re probably pretty unnecessary, but I like mine a lot!
5.) Even Then
Last, but very not least, this week’s song of the week: Even Then. Wow. This song has been on repeat all week long and I cannot get enough. SO many good lyrics, such a beautiful message, I can’t recommend this one enough!
“And even when the waters won't stop rising
Even when I'm caught in the dead of a night
No matter how it ends
You're with me even then”
Have a great weekend friends! Jesus LOVES you!
For as long as I can remember I’ve loved interior design. Growing up I was always rearranging my furniture, DIYing new decorations for my room, and of course, I have always loved browsing the home decor aisles at every store! Slowly but surly over the last few months I have been working on re-decorating my childhood bedroom. I still live at home with my parents and little brother, but I have been wanting my space to feel “more adult.” I’ve almost completely gotten rid of all the old zebra print and lime green decor (who else had this as their color palette growing up!?) and I finally feel like my room is starting to reflect who I am today, as opposed to who I was when I was 11!!
Re-decorating my space has been kind of an emotional roller-coaster for me for a few reasons. My major motivation for redecorating and getting rid of my childhood decor is so that I can take everything with me when I move out in the next couple years. This is so bittersweet. I’m excited for a new chapter to begin soon, but it’s also hard knowing I will be leaving this place I have called home, the place I grew up and made so many memories, very soon.
Beyond this, redecorating my room also marks another milestone in my journey. Something I have struggled with my whole life is being very very messy. I know, most kids have a messy room, but my friends and family will tell you that I am on another level of messy. Seeing even a small spot on my floor, not covered in piles of clothes, shocks my loved ones. My messy habit is honestly one of my biggest insecurities and something that has been the root of much of my anxiety throughout my life. I know it may sound silly to some, but the idea of going through my stuff and cleaning my room is so overwhelming to me and it always have been.
As I’ve been going through this process I have been growing so much as a person. My room has become a place of peace and relaxation, whereas even a few months ago, walking in my messy room, stepping over the piles of clothes and who knows what else, gave me so much anxiety. I’m finding that there really is something to be said about having a clean and peaceful space, and I’m so excited to continue to throw away the old and begin again.
Like I’ve mentioned, this process is slow and I’m no where near “the end.” Things are definitely not where I want them to be yet and I still have SO much stuff to get rid of, and so many new aspects I want to add. But I thought it would be fun today to share a few of my favorite home decor pieces I’ve added so far!
So I like to refer to my style as “comfy + chic.” Like I mentioned above, I want my space to be somewhere I can let my stress go and feel at peace. I want to feel motivated but relaxed. I know just last week I talked about the power of being uncomfortable, but this is my room, SO I want this to be my comfy, cozy, safe-haven! Therefore I’ve gone for soft tones in my decor, mostly greys, whites, and pops of light pinks here and there.
My bed was my starting point in this process, I went with a basic down white comforter and just a couple cozy accent pillows. I also chose patterned sheets and a couple textured throw blankets to liven up the otherwise basic bedding. A tip if you’re on-the-go and typically messy like me, don’t go crazy with the bedding! If you have a hundred accent pillows and throws you will NEVER make your bed! Just go with one or two cute pillows so it’s quick and easy to make your bed everyday (or let’s be real, once a month when company comes over!).
For accent pieces around my bed I wanted to keep it simple once again, no crazy colors, nothing too fancy. One of my favorite finds yet is this gorgeous gold and white distressed wood sign from Hobby Lobby, it simply says “Blessed” in beautiful cursive font and I love how it pulls the room together! It’s currently on sale from under $15! Most of the other accent pieces around my bed are from stores like Homegoods and TJ Maxx, so it’s tricky to find the EXACT pieces to share with you, but I will be linking similar items below if you want to get the look!
One other quick tip I want to share before I ramble on for too long, again if you are like me and eat/drink in your room, get coasters! These gorgeous marble ones are perfect for anywhere in the house, but I love keeping one on my bedside and desk for my coffee and water glasses.
Alrighty, I hope you guys love this new series! I have so many ideas I can’t wait to get started on. Let me know if there’s anything specific you would like to see in the comments!
Happy Friday friends! Wow. I feel like I was hit by a truck. It’s *ahem* that time of the month and last night was not a fun night. Then I woke up this morning with the worst headache and cramps. Needless to say, I’m chugging the coffee and it’s probably going to be a no-makeup day! Anyway, my point here isn’t to complain. It’s still a work day and I have a list of things to check off! But I thought it would be fun to mix up this week’s favorites post and focus on my top 5 favorites for when I’m sick, considering my current circumstance.
1.) This Wonderful Essential Oil Diffuser
My sweet friend Allie got me this diffuser for Christmas a couple years ago and it has been, hands down, one of the best gifts I’ve ever been given! I love this thing, especially when I’m sick. It’s really easy to use, and blows out a periodic mist like a humidifier (so it’s also helpful when you’re stuffed up!). You can add whatever essential oils you like, I love the sleep, stress, and headache scents! I swear by this thing. I feel so much better when I sleep with it on at night or use it during the day when I’m feeling under the weather or even just stressed!
2.) Fuzzy Wuzzy Sherpa Pullover
Have you heard of the Walmart sherpa pullover yet? If you haven’t, let me enlighten you! Walmart came out with the coziest, fuzziest, and most affordable option of a 1/4 zip sherpa pull over this season and it has been a HIT among fashion lovers like myself. Of course, it’s out of stock online…but both Walmart’s in my area have had FULL stock of every size and color every time I’ve checked. So I still wanted to share because it is so cozy and comfy and AFFORDABLE! The sherpa comes in both kids and women’s sizes. I actually went for the kids XXL (18) size because it was only $12.88! (I’d recommend checking the kid’s size out if you are a similar size to me! XS/S/M in women’s.) But the women’s sizes are still super affordable at just under $20! Anyway, I could go on forever about how comfy this thing is. I especially love it on chilly days and of course, when I’m not feeling my best, like today!
BEWARE: It feels like you’re wearing blanket, so be careful not to fall asleep at work/class!!!
**I’m linking a couple cozy options below since the Walmart version is out of stock online :( But I would definitely check out the Walmart near you to see if it’s in stock in store!
When I’m sick one of my favorite things to do is watch videos and listen to podcasts, especially when I still have stuff to get done. I find that listening to a brain-stimulating video/podcast while doing things like laundry, taking photos, homework, etc. really helps me to both stay awake and focused, especially when I’m feeling sick! I am a huge fan of true-crime and my favorite creator to listen to/watch is hands down Danelle Hallen. Danelle covers missing persons cases in her weekly videos in order to bring awareness to various cases in need, especially ones with little media coverage. She does such a great job explaining the context of the case while remaining very respectful. If you like true-crime content like me, or are looking for something new to stimulate your brain while doing boring tasks, I highly recommend checking out her channel!
4.) Coffee Coffee Coffee
You guys know me and my coffee! Obviously coffee is an essential for me everyday, but I find myself drinking more than a cup or two on the days I’m feeling under the weather. I just wanted to share a couple new flavors I’ve been loving at home lately! We recently picked up a couple boxes of the brand Cameron’s and I am LOVING them! Plus, they have “eco-friendly 100% compostable pods” so I don’t feel as bad using these as opposed to regular K-Cups. I have the flavors Cinnamon Sugar Cookie and Chocolate Brownie, they are both SO good!
***Pro Tip: Since these “K-Cups” aren’t actually Keurig brand they may give you an error message if you try to use them in your Keurig brand coffee maker. I’ve found that with most non-Keurig brand coffees if you click the “Hot Chocolate” button when brewing you won’t get the error and the coffee will brew perfectly fine!
5.) Golden by Lady Antebellum
And last but very not least! My song of the week. This one’s an oldie but a goodie. I’ve been listening to this whole album on repeat lately, it’s super relaxing and encouraging. I love this song especially!
The smallest parts of who you are
Are everything to me
From the way you laugh to the way you cry
To the way you love on me
I hope you have the best day and remember how beautiful you are!
