Happy Wednesday peeps! I’m half-way through my first week back to school and I’m happy to report that syllabus week isn’t kicking my butt…yet. But it’s good to be back, it’s good to get on schedule again after the craziness of the holidays (although I much prefer the craziness). Since I was little I’ve always loved fashion and I’m the definition of the girl who never stopped playing dress-up. There’s something so fun, therapeutic, and truly artistic about putting an outfit together. But somewhere along the crazy road of life I stopped wearing pieces because I wanted to. I started comparing myself and wearing exactly what I saw everyone else wearing.
And don’t get me wrong, trends are trends for a reason. But I don’t want to look exactly like everyone else. I want to be inspired by the trends and other bloggers on my feed, but I don’t want to look exactly like them. That isn’t art and that isn’t me.
So I’ve decided another goal of mine in 2019 is to make bolder and more ME fashion choices. If I’m honest, I don’t feel inspired when I look at my closet anymore. I often feel as if I’m wearing the same outfit again and again. While I still love cozy thermals and distressed skinny jeans, I also love striped pants and glittery tees. And I don’t want to feel insecure about wearing those striped pants. I don’t want to feel like I have to be seen in the same UO thermal as every other girl on my feed, if I don’t want to.
And that’s where these orange, totally 70’s, corduroy pants come in. I snagged these babies on sale at Target a couple weeks ago and they are currently my favorite item in my closet. I totally feel like Jackie Burkhart in these pants (or maybe Hyde..?). When I saw these pants on the rack I was immediately drawn to them, and yet my first reaction was they were too different, too unique, too exciting for “my style.” But I tried them on anyway and loved them even more. And I’m so glad I did because these orange pants give me so much confidence to look how I want to look.
And the best part? They’re on SALE for such a deal under $13! I recommend sizing down one size as they seem to run a litttttle big.
Happy Wednesday friends, you don’t have to go with the flow, you don’t have to look exactly like everyone else, be bold, be YOU!
