Good evening lovelies! 2 of 12 is complete and I am in utter shock at how fast the year is already going by! I know it’s so cliché, but it’s so darn crazy and true. This month has been a crazy one (par to my entire life), but also a wonderful one as well. I have made some small progress in my social media platforms and also changed up my site a bit. I'm so excited for the future of Something Shannon! March has some big things in store for me, including a spring break vacay to Florida, my birthday and Mark's birthday! I'm so excited. To celebrate the fun I've created a photo a day challenge on my Instagram, feel free to join in by using the hashtag #ssphotoaday and reposting the photo a day picture on my Instagram. (Username somethingshannon) Anyway, getting on to my favorites of the month, there have been quite a few that have sparked my excitement! Here they are:
I have been dying to give Tarte’s blushes a try for a long time now, and during a little sale they had a few weeks ago I decided to take the plunge. I ordered this little beauty along with two butter lipsticks. The shade true love is on sale for $23, I’m not sure if they are planning to discontinue it but I’m sure hoping they don’t! I adore this blush for so many reasons but the color itself is the biggest factor. It’s such a natural looking blush adding the perfect amount of pink to my cheeks.
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor ($8.99)
I am obsessed with this stuff. I’m not lying when I say that this may be my favorite lip formula in my stash at the moment. It is super light on your lips, applies like a dream, smells like strawberries and creme and is so pigmented. I will be doing a full review on the magic of this lip color very soon, but I apply it to my lips at 7 a.m., eat, drink and sweat throughout the day and it is still vibrantly on my lips at 4 p.m. when I arrive back home. Of course there is subtle feathering on the outer edges but overall this lip color lasts phenomenally and I get so many compliments when I wear it! I currently only have two colors (because it’s nearly sold out at every store every time I go): obsession, which is a bright deep pink and love, a classic bright red.
Another lip favorite of the month has been the melted liquid lipsticks from Too Faced. I have heard very mixed reviews about them and I will admit they were not all I hoped they would be. I ordered a mini pack which included 4 mini lipsticks in various colors, two with satin finishes and two with ‘metal’. Out of the four I prefer the satin finish but especially love this specific color. Melted Berry is definitely a very berry shade, which I typically do not wear. But I have been wearing this one on regular basis and I think it's gotten me hooked! It’s a great color and the wear is pretty great, although not as great in my opinion as the Revlon Lipcolors.
Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation ($12.19)
Another Revlon product has made it’s way onto my favorites this month! I typically don’t love the brand, I’m more of a Maybelline girl, but lately they have really been stepping up their game! I honestly bought this foundation as an experiment. I was doing for an article I was working on for my school paper about ‘Cardio Proof Makeup.’ I read a bunch of reviews claiming this stuff was the holy grail of workout worthy foundations, so I figured I would give it a try. Those reviews were spot on. The formula does feel a little wet when applied, but after drying it gives such a nice dewy finish. And most importantly it lasts, all day long. (I think I’m sensing a theme with Revlon’s pigmentation!)
I have been using NYX powder for quite a while now, I previously have used their loose powder with color and honestly picked up the translucent one just to try. I have ended up loving it even more than their other powders! It’s super light on my skin and doesn’t leave a nude colored trail wherever it goes (which may be my favorite thing)!
