I want to start this off with a big fat apology for my absence this last week or so. I have quickly found out that being a graduating senior in the month of May is possibly the most busy time of anyone's life. Long story short I've been attending many scholarship banquets and award ceremonies, while also juggling tests in every class and I had prom/post prom all of last weekend! It's been crazy! But I'm so excited for the summer and the opportunities it will bring me to spend some more time re-building Something Shannon. With that said let's jump into my April favorites! I tried so many great products this month and I'm so excited to share them!
Maybelline Fit Me Set+Smooth Pressed Powder in Ivory $5.59
So I have been using this product for quite a while now, but only recently did it make it’s way into my daily routine. In the beginning I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with this. My initial thought for this product was it would be carried in my purse and I could use it for touch ups throughout the day. That idea quickly faded when I tried the product with the sponge it came with. One, it felt scratchy and horrible on my skin. Two, it smelled. Weird I know. So the story goes I threw this in the back of my stash and didn’t give it a second glance until about a month ago when Kathleen on Kathleen Lights said she adored it as her under eye powder. I was like “hey! I have that!” And if Kathleen likes it it’s gotta be good, so I tried it again, this time under my eyes with my Morphe M556 brush and I love it! It’s formula is very soft and blendable, it reduces creases in my under eye concealer greatly and it also has a very slight glow to it, perfect for brightening up my under eyes.
I got this shadow in Sephora’s awesome Paint it Pink Favorites Set (which is no longer in stock and I am super sad! Let me know in the comments if you would still like to see a review on the entire set as all products can still be purchased separately!). When I ordered the set this was not the product I imagined would be in my monthly favorites this month. I typically don’t really like pink/red tones on my eyes, against my pale skin I just look like I’m having a major allergic reaction. But this little guy has stolen my heart! Being Urban Decay it’s quality and pigmentation are first and foremost phenomenal. It lasts on my lids all day, similar to the Naked palettes formula. This shimmery shade has just the perfect amount of pink, just a touch and even looks beautiful as a pink toned highlight.
I made my first Colour Pop order! Horray! Hooray! Unfortunately I was not completely thrilled with my first encounters with the company though. I recived two completely wrong items, but I ended up loving them both and have decided to keep them. One of those products is this lippie stick. Trixie is a satin finish bright magenta pink (my fav lippie shade). But the beautiful color aside, the thing that impressed me about this product was how long lasting and non-drying the formula is. You guys know, I love love love long lasting products. My days are long and I want my makeup to still be in tact at the end of my day. I kid you not, I applied this color at 7 a.m. and the color was still vibrant at 5:30 p.m. There was a tiny bit of feathering and the formula wore away a bit in the inside of my bottom lip, but it did so in a nice way, it didn’t look like it was cracking or peeling off at all! Plus plus plus, it smells like vanilla!
Another Colour Pop product, I know I’m obsesesd now! At first I also wasn’t too sure about this product. I could not seem to figure out how to apply it to achieve a high level of color pay off. Every brush I tried seemed to eat the product up and by the time the brush hit my skin there was nothing left behind! But then, I tried using my fingers and magic happened. It applies like a dream and leaves behind the most gorgeous glow that can very easily be built up for a dramatic effect or blended out for a natural one. Besides the color/glow of this product I am sooooo impressed with the formula itself. When you touch it in it’s container it feels like a squishy marshmallow (okay maybe not that squishy but close). It is so creamy and velvety it feels so nice being applied to my skin!
Oh. my. God. You guys go pick this stuff up at Ulta right now! The travel size is perfect for your purse and it’s only $4! So the story behind this is I’m in Ulta picking up some essential and I need like $2 more to use my $3.50 off coupon. So I grab this because I have heard some great things about Soap and Glory. I am picky about my lotion, picky. I actually hate applying it because so many of them feel too watery or oily, I feel like I need to dry my hands after. Not this stuff! It rubs into the nooks and crannies of your hands in a flash and to top that off it has the perfect fresh scent.
Beyond the normal makeup/beauty bits I have also been loving a couple other things this month! I found the cutest jewelry store on Storenvy through Instagram a few weeks ago and I can assure you I will be making many more purchases very soon! There are so many reasons I love it already after one purchase! 1: It's inexpensive, pretty much everything is under $20 which is great compared to many other boutiques. 2: It's adorable! Look at that bracelet (which is handmade by the way) and that packaging! S'cute! 3: It ships (wait for it...) FREE! anywhere in the U.S. What?! 4: Almost all their bracelets come in sizes. My wrist is teeny teeny tiny so finding any bracelets that fit is next to impossible but I was so pleased to find that the XS bracelet I received fit perfect. I definitely recommend checking them out soon! You won't regret it! Check it out with this link!
Guys I finally caved, I finally did it, I started watching the Office on Netflix. I. am. obsessed. I'm only on season 2 but I have never laughed so hard at a show in my life! Check it out NOW if you haven't seen it yet!
I missed you guys! What were your April favorites?! Let me know in the comments!
