New from Maybelline

Maybelline recently released a bunch of new products to their line and right off the bat, I want to let you know I was very impressed! Lately, some of the larger drugstore brands have been kind of lacking in my opinion, especially Maybelline. But, I'm excited to announce that their new releases have redeemed my love for their brand!

I'm always on the hunt for a gorgeous blush palette and this one screamed my name. Butttt, I wasn't as impressed as I hoped to be! I'm probably just too fair for this palette, but the blushes in here are just SO pigmented my cheeks always end up looking like a clown. Plus the formula is kind of dry and the formula doesn't blend out very well. The only shade I can kind of use is the light corally shade towards the end of my photo.

I was pumped to try this foundation because I adore the L'Oreal coushion foundation! I'm happy to report that I also love this one, but for different reasons. Unlike the L'Oreal version's super dewy finish, this foundation has a satin to matte finish that makes it pretty wearable for most skin types. The bulk of my face is a dry desert, but my forehead gets pretty oily throughout my day. This foundation is one of just a few that looks flawless on all parts of my face, dry or oily! As for the coverage, I was also very shocked. I expected it to have light to medium coverage, but I would place it more medium to full. It easily covers up all my redness and discoloration!

So I'm not 100% sure if this product is new or not?? It was in a display that said "new" but I'm pretty sure this product has been around for a while. I'm guessing it's just a new shade. Overall, I think this is okay. It's nothing too special, but does have a very pretty color that enhances shadows on top nicely. Would I purchase again? No. I prefer cream to liquid but if you love liquid shadows this may be the product for you!

I've said it before, and I'm going to say it again. I am a bit of a mascara snob (for lack of better terms). My favorite mascaras are almost always from high end brands, but Maybelline stole the show on this one. At first I had a bit of a love-hate relationship with it, the first few times I wore it my top lashes felt almost sticky. But, after several wears that glitch went away and now I absolutely LOVE this mascara! It gives the perfect amount of volume to both my top and bottom lashes and doesn't look clumpy at all, even with a ton of coats. Plus, the waterproof version lasts on my bottom lashes all day long without a problem. I honestly haven't used another mascara once in the last two months.

I saw so excited when I saw Maybelline released a bunch of new single shadows for a SUPER affordable price! These babies are just $2.99 a piece!! One of my biggest gripes with the more mainstream drugstore brands like Maybelline, Revlon, L'Oreal, etc. these days is that their products are getting to be pretty pricey. Most single shadows from other brands are at least $5 a pop! No thank you! Anyway, these affordable singles are getting pretty mixed reviews. The formula is far from consistent throughout the range. But, if you do your research ahead of time to find out which shadows are best I think these little guys are super worth your three bucks.

After watching a video on youtube about the range (check out Tati from Glam Life Guru!) I picked up four colors and overall I'm impressed! The deep brown shade, Made for Mocha is a gorgeous matte tone, perfect for deepening the outer corner of the crease. It's a little on the dry side, but still blends out very nicely so I'm not complaining! Next up is The Glo Down, a gorgeous gold with hints of champagne. This shimmer formula is SUPER soft to the touch and really packs the pigment! It's definitely my favorite shade! I also picked up the bright blue shade, Acid Rain. This one disappointed me. It's a shimmer formula, but unlike The Glo Down this shade feels dry to the touch and blends out pretty patchy, lacking the pigment I expected from such a bright blue. I do think it's workable, but overall it's not my favorite. And finally the shade NY Silver. I loveeee this! It's seriously the most perfect, metallic silver shade I've ever used. It's super creamy to the touch and applies with so much shine and pigment.

Maybelline is known to have some of the best lipsticks at the drug store, so when they came out with a nudes line, I had to pick up a couple! I went for the shades Almond Rose and Toasted Truffle. And I have officially fallen in love with both!! Almond Rose is a pinkier nude perfect for Spring and Toasted Truffle is a deep mauve with brown-ish hues. The formula of these lipsticks is incredibly creamy and comfortable to wear, but still dries to a semi-matte finish. Plus, they last ages on the lips! I can't wait to pick up a few more from the collection.

February Favorites

I know I know!! It's already March 9th and here I am posting FEBRUARY favorites. I'm late on the train this month, but I still wanted to get my favs up because I had several awesome ones!! Today I'm all kinds of giddy because I am officially on spring break. I can't even begin to explain how incredibly excited I am to have a whole week off to relax. But, anyway let's get into my favorite products of February!

Clinique Superbalanced Makeup

So, the first product I want to talk about is this foundation from Clinique. I picked this up because I got a sample from Sephora a few months back and absolutely loved it. Lately I've been spending the majority of my time either at school, work or home, so I've been really preferring "no makeup" makeup these days. This foundation honestly gives the perfect amount of coverage for that type of look. It's super super light on the skin, blends like a dream and is pretty moisturizing on the skin, but it's not insanely dewy. The formula itself has a very thin consistency, that is buildable, but I would not recommend this to my full coverage loving friends. Beyond the great formula the price point is EVERYTHING! It's only $25 a bottle and does come with a whole fluid ounce (average of most foundations). The only con I have found with this is that it doesn't have a pump. Other than that I give this foundation 5 stars for my light coverage days!

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in La La

Next up is one of the Colourpop single eyeshadows, in their older cream formula in the shade La La. Now, this color and formula is not new by any means, I've actually had this in my collection for quite a while now. But, recently I have just really fallen back in love with this shade. I love all of the Colourpop cream eye shadows that I have in the shimmer formula, they have SO much pigment and last forever on the eyes. This color specifically is just such a nice light bronze tone, I love applying it all over the lid or just throwing it on with a light brown blended in the crease.

This last month my lips have been so dry. I don't know what's going on, I think maybe because the weather's been so up and down, like it's 50 one day and 20 the next, my lips have just been a crackly mess. I've been exfoliating like crazy and pretty much only wearing these three lippies when I do put anything on my lips!

Nivea Milk & Honey Soothing Lip Balm

So my real go to lately has been this Nivea Milk & Honey lip balm. I've been a huge fan of their Coco Butter Kiss lipbalm in the twist container for years now. But my problem with that one is I don't like applying it when I'm out and about, because I have to dig my dirty fingers into the product and it just feels gross to do in public. So, I went to Target and found this guy in the typical chapstick form and I love it! It's not quite as moisturizing as their lipbalm in the little tin, but it still is really nice and makes my lips feel a lot better when they are cracking like mad!

Covergirl Oh Sugar! Lip Balms

When I want to add a little color and sheen to my lips I've been reaching for my Covergirl Oh Sugar! Lip Balm in the shade Caramel. I have two other shades from this range that are more pinky and I love to wear in the summer months. But, the shade caramel is just so nice for the winter in my opinion. It's a super light wash of color! You will barely see it on the lips, it mostly just adds a soft sheen and it looks really nice over a more pigmented nude lipstick. I love the way this formula wears, it's super moisturizing and enriched with vitamins. I also feel like it's very similar to the Fresh Sugar Lip Balms but at a fraction of the price!

Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stains

And, lastly on the rare occasion that I do go out with friends or Mark I've been almost always reaching for this new shade from the Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stains in the shade 41 Vintage Rosewood. You guys already know how much I love the lipsticks from this range. I talked about another favorite shade in my January favorites here. The formula of these is very nice for a more affordable liquid lip. They are the least drying formula I've tried and last for HOURS. This shade is such a gorgeous deep nude with brick tones in it. I feel like it would look fab on almost any skin tone!

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask

(Any last but not at all least, my skin care favorite of this last month, which I didn't get a picture of.) My skin has been having a moment, or more like a whole season. Since mid November I have been dealing with off and on texture and severe dryness unlike ever before. This overnight mask is my savior. After using this mask my face feels so soft and my makeup applies so evenly. It's become my favorite face mask I've tried to date!

January Favorites 2017

January 2017 is down in the books and I'm STILL writing 2016 when I cash my checks at the bank. (Anybody else do this well into every new year!?) January was such a great month, but it flew by so so fast. I've been keeping pretty busy over the last few weeks. Semester 2 of my first year of college is full swing and I am swamped with homework. As I type this I'm simultaneously studying for my three tests next week (or at least trying...). I've also been so lucky to spend quite a bit of time with friends and family lately. I even went on a little ice skating date with Mark a couple weeks ago! January was also a great month for beauty! These new releases are giving my wallet so much anxiety. So, expect some haul posts soon! In the mean time here are a few of my go to products from month one of 2017!

Glossier Priming Moisturzier $25

Okay so I justttt talked about this baby in my new skin care post over here! And I have become so obsessed with this product since I got it for Christmas. Winter has completely destroyed my skin, I have dry patches constantly and this primer gives such a nice extra layer of hydration. Does it make my makeup last longer? That's the thing everybody asks, and the truth is no. But, it does give a beautiful, hydrated, smooth base for your makeup to lie on top of and these days that's my goal with any primer!

Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Pink Frosting $14

Ughhhh this lipstick. Sephora released a ton of new (and all beautiful) shades to their liquid lipstick range and I am so obsessed with this color. It's made me an official cool tones fan! If you dont already know, the Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stains are among the best liquid lipsticks on the market today and in terms of price, sit well under most other high end lip products at $14 a pop. Per the name,  they has a much thicker and moussier consistency than the typical liquid lip. They wear great (5+ hours) and don't dry out my lips unlike much of their competition (Anastsia, Stila, etc.). I can't wait to get my hands on some other new colors!!

Anybody like how my nails are like a dead dupe for the lipcolor?? KL Polish in Zoey!!

Becca X Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop $38

I know, I know, it's crazy that I'm just now getting on the champagne pop train!! I'm proud to say I finally added this iconic highlight to my stash over Christmas and I am really impressed. Seriously, all the rave is true! This shade is just the most neutral gold highlight I have ever used in my life. I feel like it can work for such a large variety of skin tones from fair to deep.  When I want my highlight to shine to the heavens, I reach for this. (And a tip for my fairrrr skin gals!! If you feel like this pulls slightly dark on you, mix a little of Becca's Opal in. It looks gorgeous!)

X-Formula Delete All 5 Finger Nail Polish Remover

So, I recently found out that Formula X is being discontinued and that breaks my heart because this product is SO good! Over the last month I've used this several times and it never ceases to amaze me. I pop all five of my fingers into the sponge and the polish on my nails is gone within a few seconds. Magic. Unfortunately, it's out of stock online, but I still wanted to post a little something about it in case you can find it somewhere in stores!!  I you happen to see this on sale in Sephora, I highly recommend grabbing one while you still can!

New to my Skin Care Collection

Over Christmas I was lucky enough to receive quite a few skin care products from family and friends as gifts! So today I wanted to give a little run down on exactly what they are and how I like them so far. Let's get going!! (Ps. I am SUPER proud of how these photos turned out! How do you guys like the marble background!??)

Origins Drink up Intensive Overnight Mask $26

I was really excited to receive this from my parents because my skin has been so DRY this winter! This overnight mask is a moisture intensive product, for dry skin types, with the purpose of adding a load of moisture to your skin. It contains apricot and avocado oils, along with japanese sea weed! I've only used this mask once so far, but on first impression, I liked it a lot. It smells fresh and leaves my face feeling soft and refreshed in the morning. Plus, it's a pretty great value! A little goes a long way with this mask, and the package is pretty good sized, so it should last a long time.

Glossier Priming Moisturizer $25

If you have dry skin or seasonal dry patches, drop by Glossier's website NOW and order yourself this primer! I mean it. Over the last few weeks this primer has landed a solid spot in my daily makeup/skincare routine. After cleansing my skin (with my Glossier milk jelly cleanser) I pop on some of my holy grail First Aid Beauty cream, and finish by coating my entire face with this baby. I gotta be honest, I don't notice too much of a difference in the longevity of my makeup with this primer. But, for my purposes, with the way my skin has been, I don't care much. Mac Fix + holds my makeup in place on it's own and this lovely gem keeps my skin feeling soft and hydrated for hours!

Ultra Repair Cream with Vanilla $30

As I mentioned in the above paragraph, and have mentioned about 50 billion times throughout the last year, the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream is my HOLY GRAIL heavy duty moisturizer! So obviously, when I saw the cute little holiday set this cream came in, I knew I had to have it! The set came with two, 2 oz containers of the magic cream I love so dear. This one is same formula as the classic, scentless cream, but with a soft vanilla scent. It's perfect for the dry spots on my legs and arms and keeps me smelling sweet all day!

Foreo Luna Mini $139

This gift was one I was most excited for this year. I've been wanting to invest in an electronic cleanser for a while now. The Foreo really intrigued me because of it's silicon based bristles, which make it more sanitary and easy to clean. So far I've been really impressed with it! I feel like it gives me a much deeper clean, especially in the areas I typically have lots of blackheads. I chose to go for the mini version for a couple reasons, A.) it's cheaper and B.) I felt like the smaller version would allow me to navigate my face a littttle better. Needless to say, I'm quite satisfied with my choice! Let me know in the comments if you guys would like to see a full skin care routine post featuring this!

Honeyskin Ultimate Face and Body Cream $23.37

I got this giant cream from my great uncle on Christmas eve, he always finds the most unique and personalized gifts! I'd never heard of this brand before, but it really seems like something special. All of Honeyskin's products are natural, gluten free, paraban free and animal "friendly". This specific cream claims to be the ultimate cream for dryness, even as severe as eczema, rosacea or psoriasis. I've only gotten the chance to use this a few times, but so far I'm impressed! The formula is a thicker consistency than many moisturizers, you can really feel it absorbing into the skin. It also has a soft, natural scent, mostly of honey!
