Happy Hearts Day Everyone! I hope your day is filled with happiness and love on this lovely Valentine's Day, whether it be spent with friends, family or a special someone. Today I have a quick little galentines DIY for your night out. If you’re in need of a last minute gift for your valentine's celebration or if you need a pop of color for your date night outfit, these tassel necklaces are the perfect quick DIY.
So let's get started! The materials you will need are...
Cut some excess thread off to use for wrapping the top of the tassel. The more thread you cut off the smaller (thinner) your tassel will be, I recommend cutting off somewhere between 16 and 24 inches. Be careful when unraveling the thread, as you do not want to lose the shape the thread comes in.
Next fold your embroidery thread in half inside your jump ring, making sure the ends line up pretty closely. If they do not when you go to cut your tassel they will be all different lengths.
Once you have folded the thread in the jump ring wrap the excess thread we cut in step one tightly around the top. (As I wrap I like to spread it out a bit.) Tightly double knot the thread on whichever side you would like to have as the back of the necklace and cut off the extra thread. Then put slide the ring onto your necklace!
Finally cut the bottom of your thread off to make the tassel. Make sure you have sharp scissors for this project, the ones I used are for cutting material and they worked perfectly! It's easiest if you can cut accross in one large chunk as opposed to trying to clip each thread the same length.
And there you have it! Voila! You now have an adorable DIY tassel necklace to wear on your valentines date!
