Hello Lovelies! Hooray for the weekend! Currently I’m typing this in my little piece of paradise at my family cabin in Wisconsin. There’s few things I love more than being up on the lake. Unfortunately it’s pouring rain, but it still feels great to get away and curl up in a comfy chair. I quickly wanted to remind everyone to enter my giveaway! Check out my giveaway post for details! It ends tonight at midnight so be sure to enter!
A few days ago I posted on Snapchat about a couple new items I picked up from Sephora and I want to share my opinions so far with you guys today! Also, if you’re not yet following me on Snapchat please add me at somethingshan! I am so excited to grow this outlet of Something Shannon because it really allows me to show you the un-edited, casual, often in my pjs life! Also I will be posting sneak peaks of posts (like this one!), mini product reviews and so much more!! I can’t wait to become Snapchat Friends!! Alrighty onto my little haul!
So this past week I decided to treat myself a little and pick up a few items from Sephora I have been itching to add to my collection. One of those items is the Nars Liquid Illuminator in Copacabana. I’ve been on such a highlighter kick lately and the idea of a liquid high light just sounded so incredible to me! From the moment I saw this particular one I knew I had to have it!
And I’m so glad it was the one I chose because so far I love it! It comes in a nice little squeeze tube, yet appears to hold quite a large amount of product. Although I’ve only used it a few times I think it definitely could become a major staple in my routine. It adds an intense highlight when I apply it directly on top of my foundation and makes for the most natural and subtle glow when I mix it in with my foundation. Plus you only need a small amount to create a gorgeous highlight!
The next item I picked up is the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation. I’ve been debating for months now wheather to pick one of these up and so far I’m pretty glad I did! First of all the color match is incredible. Makeup Forever’s shade range is phenomenal and the way it’s divided up in Yellow/Red undertones makes finding the perfect color that much easier! I chose the shade R230 and it is truly the perfect match.
The application is also such a breeze! I was a little worried about application would go since I have never used a product like this before but I was realy impressed of how quickly it blended in. I simply swiped product all over my face (2 swipes on each cheek, 1 swipe on the chin, on the bridge of the nose, a dot above my upper lip and a swipe in the middle of the forehead) and blended it with my real techniques expert face brush. It took a total of maybe 2 minutes. Going along with the quick application I was shocked at how creamy the formula was. I’m not sure why but I kind of had this fear that this type of foundation would be drying, but I have yet to notice any at all! The only downside I have noted so far it that it does have a faint smell to it, I’m not sure what it is exactly but it does go away after I blend it in. Otherwise I really like it so far and can’t wait to try another Makeup Forever foundation!
The final thing I picked up was one of Urban Decay’s new Vice lipsticks! I have been dying to grab one of these from the day they released! I was super impressed with the number of shades released in this range, I chose the shade Backtalk, which is a mauvey nude (AKA my color these days) with a little more of purple tone when I apply it to my lips, which I surprisingly really like. This shade is one of the "Comfort Matte" formula. The collection includes six finishes including Sheer, Metallized, Cream, Comfort Matte, Mega Matte and Sheer Shimmer.
I've worn this lipstick serveral times since purchasing and I love it! First of all the color is so unique, and I love how creamy yet matte the fomrula is. It's hard to find a good matte lipstick that doesn't dry out your lips, but this one is so non-drying! Also the packaging is so adorable. I can't wait to try more from this fantasic line!!
Who has reccomendations for my next Sephora purchase? Let me know in the comments!
