1.) Drinking More Water
Did you know that water energizes you? Yeah, you heard me right. Not coffee, not green tea, not diet soda. Good ole’ H2O gives you more energy. I’ve always known there were TONS of benefits to drinking water and I’ve always been a water-drinker. (You know, the girl who always orders plain boring water at the fancy restaurant.) But one of the ways I’ve been working on my health lately is drinking even MORE water. My daily goal is at least 64 oz, 2 full Hydroflask water bottles. And when I do this, let me tell you, I feel SO good!
2.) Consuming Media that Lifts Me Up
I’ve been on a self-development kick. Rachel Hollis is my life right now. And I’m 100% okay with it. Because spending time watching videos, listening to podcasts, reading books, or even scrolling through an Instagram account that makes me FEEL GOOD is ENOUGH. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Office and always will. I still love mindless beauty guru videos from time to time, but engaging in media that pokes at my brain, makes me think, makes me ACT, is changing my life. (Not to be dramatic or anything…) I’m planning a whole post sharing all my favorite resources at the moment, but to name a few…
The Rise Podcast with Rachel Hollis (duh)
Motivation by Faith on Instagram
The Holy Bible (the best resource out there)
3.) Waking Up Earlier
As a kid I was ALWAYS an early riser. And I’ve always, even to this day, been a morning person. But in the last year as my life changed a bit I started this bad habit of sleeping in. And although sleeping in on Saturday morning is nice from time to time, sleeping past 8 or 9 AM everyday was really putting a damper on my productivity and consequently, the way I felt about myself. So I’m making it a goal to wake up before 7 AM during the week and before 8 AM on the weekends. And you know what? It feels great! I feel so much better about myself and the way my day goes. I’m getting so much more done.
4.) Eating Breakfast
I hate breakfast. There, I said it. I never got why everyone was SOOO excited when McDonalds released all-day-breakfast. I mean, I do love some good biscuts and gravy, or cinnamon roll pancakes, but generally speaking breakfast isn’t my thing. BUT it is so necessary. So every morning as I wake up earlier already, I make a point of sitting down and eating a breakfast that fills me up. Not just coffee. Oatmeal. Cereal. Fruit. Gronola. Energy!
Intentional prayer. Stopping what I’m doing, closing my eyes, putting my phone on mute, prayer. If you remember anything from this post, remember this. Intentional prayer is so essential, it will change the way you live your life and the way you feel, physically and emotionally everyday. So set time aside, maybe right when you wake up for 5 minutes, or before you fall asleep, and talk to God for real.
