If you've been around here for a while now you may know that I eat a gluten free diet. (Read more about why I went GF and how I started here!) When I first went g-free I cried, panicked, and pretty much assumed I'd die of starvation because "I COULDN'T EAT ANYTHING!" But, here I am two years down the road writing this post for you. Truth be told, being gluten free isn't all that bad! I admit, it does take a little more work, time and sometimes money than the "regular" eaters of the world. But, for people who suffer from celiac disease or gluten sensitivities, the benefits much outweight the downfalls. (Except in the case of cinnamon rolls...) So today I'm sharing a few of my favorite g-free snacks you can likely find in your local grocery store! Some of them may surprise you...
As you walk through the organic/g-free aisles of your local grocery store one of the things you're likely to see a lot of is pretzels, upon pretzels, upon pretzels. If you're like me and you like pretzels they will quickly become a go-to snack option. All in all, most gf pretzels I've tried are pretty good, but my favorites are definitely the Aldi Live GFree Pretzels and the Snyder's Honey Mustard GF Pretzels. And for dessert, the Snack Factory Mini GF Dark Chocolate pretzel crisps are major *heart eyes*.
Another one of my favorite GF snacks is of course, popcorn! I typically like to just pop any old bag of microwave popcorn we have on hand, and add some flavor with one of my favorite Kernal Season's products. My favorite flavors are White Cheddar, Ranch, and Garlic Parmesan!
If you're a newbie to the g-free world you may be surprised at just how many of your favorite chips actually contain gluten free ingredients. Check out Frito Lay's GF list here! Personally, I've always been a huge cheeto lover. My favorites are the Jalapeno Cheddar Cheetos and the classic Flamin' Hot. I also love myself a bag of Cape Cod Sea Salt and Vinegar Kettle chips!
NUM! NUM! NUM! *in cookie monster voice* Truthfully, cookies are one of the more difficult gf snacky foods to find (that are actually good) in my opinion. I'm a sucker for anything lemon when it comes to desserts, and these WOW Lemon Burst cookies are some of my favorites EVER! (Yeah, I said it. Not just GF favorite, but EVER!) This brand also has several other flavors, but the lemon ones are my fav. Another favorite of mine is the Immaculate Baking Cookie Dough. This delicious dough comes in pre-portioned chunks similar to Nestle and when baked the cookies are incredibly gooey! (Or you can be a BA like me and eat raw cookie dough, hehe) I've found these delicious cookies in several grocery stores (Target, Walmart, Meijer) and even picked them up in Aldi a few times! The chocolate chip are my favorites, but the double chocolate fudge are delish as well!
